Side by side
Same sky, very different distance. That distance is why one works for a video call and the other doesn't.

Switching
- Order Starlink through our link. Keep Sky Muster running until the kit arrives.
- Call us to book the mount. We put the dish where the sky is clear, run the cable and place the router.
- We take the old dish down while the ladder is up, and you cancel Sky Muster with your provider once Starlink is up for a week.
Sky Muster questions
Is Starlink faster than Sky Muster?
Yes, by a wide margin in practice. Sky Muster Plus is an nbn satellite service with limited peak-hour speed and a data allowance; Starlink is sold by speed tier (100 Mbps, 200 Mbps and Max in Australia) with no data cap on Residential.
What about latency?
Sky Muster's satellite sits about 36,000 km up, so every request travels there and back: roughly 600 ms or more. Starlink's satellites are about 550 km up; typical latency is a few tens of milliseconds, which is why video calls and online games work.
Does switching cost anything?
The Starlink Residential kit is $0 upfront (a rental), or from $289 for Roam. Order through our link and your second month is free. Your Sky Muster provider will have its own cancellation terms; check the contract. We take the old dish down while the ladder is up.
Can I keep my Sky Muster as a backup?
You can, but almost nobody does after a month on Starlink. If you rely on a landline that came bundled with the nbn service, sort that out first.
Is Starlink reliable in bad weather?
Heavy storms can slow it briefly. Ordinary rain and cloud make no difference you'd notice. Both services are satellite, so a clear view of the sky matters for both.
